While the Microsoft team worked on integrating the features of Sunrise into its Outlook apps for Android and iOS, the standalone Sunrise app continued to be available on the Google Play store although it was left unmaintained. However, earlier this month Microsoft pulled the Sunrise app from the Play Store and announced that the app will stop working completely by August 31st, and they’d like you to start using Outlook which has received most of Sunrise Calendar’s functionality. But if you do not want to use Outlook, there are still several worthy alternatives to Sunrise Calendar you should consider, and I will be listing a few of those in this article. Feel free to add your favourite calendar app to this list in the comments below.
1. Google Calender
The official Google Calendar app is a great replacement for Sunrise calender especially if you use Google’s calendar service. The app provides up to five different views for monitoring your schedule, and it also has a Reminder feature which allows you to create to-dos and view them alongside your calendar events. In addition, a new Goals feature was added recently which automatically schedules time for as many personal goals that you want to track. Price: Free

Business Calendar 2 is the calendar app for power users as it comes with so many customisable options that will improve your calendar management and make life easier. Aside from being able to sync with Google Calendar and Exchange, Business Calendar 2 also comes with a task management feature that syncs with Google Tasks, and it provides a heat map to help you discover free days where you can schedule events. Another great feature is the dedicated birthday view which allows you to view the all birth dates of your contacts at a glance. Sol Calendar is another awesome calendar app with an excellent reputation amongst its users. The app syncs with various calendar services such as Google Calendar, Exchange, iCloud and even Yahoo! Calendar. Like Business Calender 2, it offers a to-do list function that syncs with Google Tasks and also offers customisable repeat options for events and tasks. A standout feature of this app is its integrated weather forecast feature that keeps you informed of the weather conditions in your location. Price: Free
